EVELYN LOEWEN 1937 - 2002 Evelyn Loewen passed away suddenly on June 4, 2002 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. She had battled a liver/pancreatic illness a year ago and appeared to have recovered somewhat when things suddenly turned for the worse. Both her sisters, Esther and Ruth were by her side when she passed away at around 5:00 a.m. She made a supreme effort to attend her sister Esters birthday in late May and we were planning to celebrate her 65th birthday on June 20. She was the eldest child of Cornelius and Margaret Harder of Melba, SD, 5 miles north of Horndean. She is survived by her beloved husband Henry and their one daughter Barbara (Eldon) Unruh; and their two sons, Clayton and Cameron. She was predeceased by her mother in 1982. Evelyn attended school and Bible School at Melba, Rosefarm, Altona and Steinbach. She attended Teachers College in Winnipeg and taught two years in Kane, one year in Gretna and numerous years in Winnipeg with some as a substitute teacher. In 1997 she retired from teaching. Evelyn will be missed and lovingly remembered by her friends, relatives and family. Our family expresses gratitude for the compassionate care of the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 7 at 11:00 a.m. at the Portage Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, 1420 Portage Ave. with Rev. Allen Dueck officiating. Viewing for the public will be held on Thursday, June 6 at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and prior to the service. Interment will follow after the meal at Gary Memorial Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331
