W.D. "BILL" DERTELL It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Dertell, husband, father, grandfather in Winnipeg on June 5, 2002. He is survived by his wife Merle; daughter Bonnie (Bob) Hamlin and grandchildren, Treva, Cindy, Sandra and Jennifer Hamlin; sister Margaret Radcliff of Apache Junction, AZ; brothers, Allen, Qualicum Beach, BC and Russ and wife Ida Mae of Calgary, AB; also several nephews and nieces that Bill was very fond of. Bill spent his youth in Star City, SK and then embarked on a hockey career in Saskatoon prior to joining the Air Force. Bill served with the RCAF as a Pilot Instructor with the rank of Flying officer. On discharge at the end of the war he rejoined Westeel, a steel fabricating company. Moving to Regina in 1926 and to Winnipeg in 1965 as a Regional Manager, Vice President and Director of the company, retiring after 42 years service. Bill was active in Trade Associations, Service Clubs and enjoyed all sports both as a participant and spectator. Bill and Merle also enjoyed many years with their friends at their cottage at the Lake of the Woods. Bill was currently a member of the Manitoba Club and the St. Charles Country Club. Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200 \r
