ROBERT THOMAS ELLIOTT (TOM) SCOTT It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert Thomas Elliott (Tom) Scott, at home, with his wife by his side, on June 5, 2002. He will be lovingly remembered and immeasurably missed by his loving wife Elaine; son Jason and wife Nicole; daughter Jennifer and fiance Trevor Johnson; and his wonderful mother Jean Scott. Tom was predeceased by his father, Robert Scott, on August 14, 1983. He will also be missed by his mother-in-law Mary Novak; and his many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Tom had many amazing friends who will sorely miss him as well. Tom was born in Neepawa, MB, on March 25, 1944, the only child of Robert and Jean Scott. The family moved to Gladstone when he was two years old. It was in this community where he grew up, made many friends, met and later married his wife Elaine on November 1, 1969, and subsequently had two children, Jason and Jennifer. Tom and Elaine raised their family in Gladstone while owning and managing an insurance and travel business after a period of auctioneering and mixed farming. All who knew Tom admired his zest for life and his ever present smile. Tom took pride in his community and participated extensively in activities and organizations that he thought would benefit Gladstone. He loved to remember old times and was never forgetful of people that had touched his life; regardless of the occasion. He took great pride in his family and this was always his number one priority. Despite years of illness that most were not aware of, he faced each day with a smile and a desire to work and make the world a better place, especially for his wife and children. Tom loved to travel and in fact, had lost count of the countries he had visited. He especially loved regular vacations with Nick and Sue and Tom and Brid, and any chance he had to take a trip on a cruise ship. Tom also loved time spent at the golf course with his regular Sunday morning group - Jim, Art, and Joe, his morning coffee with B.W. and his Saturday afternoon breaks with Eileen and Bob, Ken and Gail and Lyle. Toms love for life also is evidenced in the number of organizations hes been involved in. He loved being a member of the Gladstone Masonic Lodge No. 11 as well as the Scottish Rite Freemasons. He was an active member of the Gladstone Chamber of Commerce, Gladstone Branch No. 110 of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Manitoba Club and the Heartland Community Futures Board in Portage. He was also a member of the Gladstone United Church. Tom also served on both Provincial and National Travel Boards and was very involved in helping set up the Gladstone Austin Natural Gas Co-op and the new Happy Rock information station, to which he very proudly lended his voice. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 10, at 2:00 p.m. in the Gladstone United Church with Rev. Blair Whyte officiating. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Neepawa Hospital Donation Fund, Box 1240, Neepawa, MB, R0J 1H0. Many thanks to Dr. David Chapman, Dr. Andrew Morris and to all those at the Neepawa General Hospital, St.Boniface General Hospital, and the London Health Sciences Centre who helped over the years. Tom is remembered by some for his distinct laugh, mainly its character, but also how often you would hear it. This echoed his approach to life; be yourself, have fun, be confident in your abilities, make good friends and keep family as your number one priority. Husband, Father, Son Clarkes Funeral Home, Gladstone in care of arrangements. \r
