Marion spent her childhood growing up in Winnipegs west end. Throughout her life she treasured her many memories of the times with her brothers and sisters on Sherburn Street. Marion attended Principal Sparling and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. She was an avid roller skater at the old Winnipeg Roller Rink where, in 1947, she met her future husband Richard Woollard whom she married in March, 1952. Between 1953 and 1957, Marion gave birth to her four children, eventually raising them in the Blake Gardens (N1) area of Weston. She spent the next years doing what was most important to her in life: being a wife, a mother and a homemaker. Her children and later her grandchildren were always her centre. Marion was a wonderful listener, always available for tea and a good heart-to-heart. Marion loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, garage saling, ceramics, reading, piano, and going to the Assiniboine Downs Race Track with her family. Marion loved to be around young people, and they loved to be around her. In 1984 Marion co-founded the Foundations Learning Centre where she worked for many years teaching reading and writing to both young children and adults. She worked also in a receiving home for the Childrens Aid Society, and as a Counsellor on the Crisis Intervention Line at the Klinic. As a younger woman, Marion worked at Eatons, as a secretary with the Winnipeg School Division, as an Avon representative, and later in a number of retail positions. The last six months of Marions life have been a loving testimony to the strength of the family she raised and to the devotion of her brothers, sisters, and her many family and friends. Marion died at home as she had wished. The family is profoundly grateful to the home care workers, the nurses and doctors who cared for her.
