GEORGE JOSEPH DESROSIERS It is with profound sorrow that the family announces the sudden passing of their beloved husband, father and grandfather, George Joseph Desrosiers, on Thursday, June 6, 2002. George is survived by his soul mate, wife and best friend of 53 years, Shirley May; his daughter Richelle (Brent), and grandchildren, Marley and Caleb, and little buddy Spike, who were all devoted to Grandpa and shared a special bond with him; his son Paul (Debbie), and grandson Tyler of Aylmer, ON, as well as Cathy Williams-Stewart who has for many years been a comfort, friend, nurse and adopted daughter. The family would also like to thank friends and colleagues who have been and continue to be sources of tremendous support. "We love you, Daddy." George will be missed by all who knew him for his humour, charm, tales of glory and infamy, lust for life and love of family. He was a man who treated pauper or prince equally. He was honest and noble in his simplicity. He loved music, wrote songs, played guitar and harmonica, and sang beautifully. Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Georges memory to the Winnipeg Folk Festival Memorial Tree Planting Project, 203 - 211 Bannatyne Ave., in care of Linda Freed, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 3B2. "Remember me when I am gone away, Gone away into the silent land. When you can no longer hold me by the hand, Remember me when no more day by day You tell me of the future that you plannd... Better by far you should forget and smile, Than that you should remember and be sad." LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements; 775-2220. \r
