JAMES HUNTER TREBLE October 30, 1936 - June 6, 2002 It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of James Hunter Treble on June 6, 2002 at Rock Lake Hospital, Crystal City, MB. Jim is survived by his wife Beverley (Robinson), daughter Margaret Anne (Gaetane), sons, William James (Laurie), Cecil David (Susanne), and Douglas John (Carrie) grandson Zachary David Boynton Treble; and granddaughters, Courtney Paige and Lauren Hunter Treble; sister Annette Louise Treble; and many cousins. He in also survived by in-laws, David and Ebba Robinson, Alex and Pauline Robinson and Ruth Brunner; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim was born October 30, 1936 in Crystal City and received his early education in Crystal City where he was active in baseball, hockey, and curling. He attended United College (University of Winnipeg) for his B.A. (1957). During these years of college, he joined the Canadian Officers Training Corps and spent two summers at the Ordinance Training School in Montreal. The third summer he was fortunate to go to Germany with the Canadian Army Brigade, stationed in Soest. In April 1961, Jim graduated from the Manitoba Law School (LLB) and came home to work with his father. On December 9 of that year, Jim and Bev were married in St. Andrews United Church, Swan River, MB. Jim was active with organizations in the community and beyond. He served on the school board before consolidation, was chairman and secretary of the chamber of commerce and spent several terms on the hospital board, including three terms as chairman. Jim was returning officer for the Federal constituency of Lisgar/Lisgar-Marquette for 25 years. He was on the board of Manitoba Community Services Council, the Crystal City and Community Benevolent Association, and on the Parkview Lodge Board of Directors. As a member of the Crystal City United Church, Jim served on council, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He loved hockey and coached and managed teams for many years. In 1989, through his involvement with Elections Canada, Jim was asked to volunteer for service with the United Nations. He was one of fifty Canadians, among many countries, to help supervise the first democratic election in Namibia, Africa. Jim loved his work. His dedication to his clients continued throughout his lengthy illness. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Crystal City United Church with the Rev. Milo Spooner-Craig officiating. Interment to follow at Crystal City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Bester and Dr. Wilson and all the staff of Rock Lake Hospital, Dr Bow and staff at CancerCare Clinic, Health Sciences Centre, for their support and care.
