MARY CONQUERGOOD (nee MASNIUK) On Saturday, June 8, 2002 Mary Conquergood passed away peacefully at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall, MB. Mary was born August 19, 1907 in Hostiw, Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in 1914. The family homesteaded in Morweena then moved to Narcisse. Mary married John Kolt November 24, 1923 and moved to Winnipeg. She became a life member of St. John Cantius Church. In 1947 she bought Dallas Trading Store in Dallas, MB. She joined the Hodgson Legion, Branch 158 and was granted life membership to the Hodgson Ladies Auxiliary in 1978. After John died, Mary married Ernie Conquergood on June 5, 1959. They sold the store in 1970 and moved to Fisher Branch, MB. Mary became president of the Fisher Branch Seniors Club as well as president of the Hodgson Hospital auxiliary. After Ernie died she moved to Inwood, MB in 1986. From there she went to Bethania Nursing Home in Winnipeg and then to Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall. Mary loved to dance, play cards, go fishing and do lots of travelling. Places she visited included Europe, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Vancouver, the Calgary Stampede, and even the Rose Bowl Parade in California. She was always lending a helping hand to all her family members. Who didnt enjoy staying at Marys?! She lived the life of a true pioneer woman whom books are written about. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Anne Masniuk; her husbands, John Kolt and Ernie Conquergood; as well as her brothers, Nick, Joe, Peter, Mike; and her sister Sophie. The family would like to send special thanks to all the staff at Bethania Nursing Home and Rosewood Lodge for the wonderful care Mary received during her residence there. The funeral service is Friday, June 14 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, Inwood. Rev. Fr. R. A. Glofcheski will officiate. Interment will follow at Sandridge Cemetery. Pallbearers are David Masniuk, John Masniuk, Gary Masniuk, Nick Masniuk, Bill Kitching, and Albert Strick. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of the arrangements.
