MILDRED (MILLY) RITA FEWCHUK 1923 - 2002 On Sunday, June 9, 2002, with her loving family by her side, Mildred Fewchuk, aged 78 years, passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mildred was born on July 15, 1923. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, William (Shorty) her children, Ron (June), Pat Smolinski (Joe), Shirley Huculak (Lorne) grandchildren, Rodney Fewchuk (Nan), Kathy Scott (Bruce), Bill Smolinski (Desiree), Richard Smolinski (Linda), Shirleen Huculak, J.R. Huculak (Theresa) and great-grandchildren, Lee and Matthew Scott. Milly will also be greatly missed by many special relatives and friends. Mildred was predeceased by her infant daughter Darlene; parents Esther and Colin Clarke; sister Myrtle and brother-in-law Carl; brothers, Lloyd, Alfie and Kenny; parents-in-law Peter and Polly Fewchuk; brother-in-law John; and sisters-in-law, Anne and Edna. The heart of Millys life was family and friends. Her door was always open for visitors to join her and Shorty for a cup of tea and goodies. Milly treasured many family barbecues, birthday parties and card games, and enjoyed baking, gardening, knitting and sharing her many beautiful crafts with family and friends. Milly and Shorty loved to travel in their motorhome. They could often be found at various old-time fiddling festivals and dances. Milly was an active member of the Ladies Legion Auxiliary and the Lockport Community Church. The family wishes to thank Pastor Matthew Neufeld, Dr. L. Brandes, Dr. R.R. Lindenschmidt and the staff of Selkirk General Hospital, and the many doctors and nurses in the SICU and MICU at the Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 13 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lockport Community Church, #44 Hwy. and Henderson Hwy. Pastor Matthew Neufeld will officiate. Interment will follow in the McKenzie Churchyard Cemetery on Henderson Hwy. N. (#204). Active pallbearers are Millys grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are her many cherished relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9.
