Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVICTOR CARL TORFASON 1928 - 2002 The children and grandchildren of Victor Carl Torfason wish to inform you of his passing on Saturday, June 8, 2002. We take great comfort in knowing he has joined our Mom and Amma who passed away not quite a year ago. We could never put into words how much we will miss them both. Dad was born on January 5, 1928. He grew up a true Icelander in Gimli, MB. As a boy Dad enjoyed all sports, singing in the choir and working with his father, Kalli. All through his life he participated in many sports, excelling in curling and hockey. He also enjoyed coaching his boys hockey teams over the years. In 1959 Dad married Mom, Dorothy Mae West. Residing in Transcona they raised their five children. They instilled in us good values, morals, kindness and love, and the five of us made them Afi and Amma 13 times. In 1973 Dad took a transfer with Manitoba Hydro and we all moved into "The Big House" in Winnipeg Beach. Dad was a mason and loved going to Gimli for coffee with some of his old time buddies. In 1990 they moved to Aspen Park in Gimli. Dad loved living in Gimli again and always loved it when we came home to visit. Due to poor health Dad was hospitalized in October of 1996. We wish to thank all of the staff at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre, E-15 for caring for Dad the last five and a half years. We appreciate the kindness and the respect youve always shown towards him. Thank you also to the staff at the Selkirk General Hospital. Victor was predeceased by his wife Dorothy; grandson Bjorn; and parents, Kalli and Osk. Left to cherish his memory are daughter Veanne Hudson (Jeff), Karlene, Kristin and Kodi; son John (Gail), Cole and Clint; son Jamie (Louise), Amanda and Eric; son Todd (Debbie), Aislynn and Christian; daughter Dori-Mae Forsyth (Bob), Kalee and Leif; son Karl Torfason; and sister Doreen Wyers. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13 at the Winnipeg Beach United Church, 30 Murray Ave. Honorary pallbearers, Victors six grandsons, Eric, Leif, Kodi, Christian, Cole and Clint. In lieu of flowers we ask that you pay your respects by doing for others, by trying to understand the troubles and faults others may have, by not criticizing or judging unless you have walked in their shoes. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. Rest in peace Dad, everytime we have Vinarterta and Ponnukokkur, we will be thinking of you.
