PEARL ZUK Peacefully, on Friday, June 7, 2002, Pearl Zuk passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 90. Besides her parents, Gregory and Magda Misyk, she was predeceased by her husband Nicholas; granddaughter Maria Slobodian; brothers, John and Dymetro Misyk; sisters, Katie Misyk, Jenny Holyk, Annie Fedyna and Eva Misyk. Pearl leaves to cherish her memory daughter Olga (Orest) Slobodian; granddaughter Paula (Brad) Havixbeck; great-grandson Nicholas Paul Havixbeck; her son John (Valerie) Zuk, Peachland, BC; grandchildren, Patti Zuk, Vancouver, Raymond (Annette) Zuk, Vancouver, Colleen Zuk, Victoria and John Zuk, Jr., Vancouver; sister Mary Misyk; and numerous nieces and nephews in Edmonton. Mother lived life full of love, caring and giving without expecting rewards, not only to her family but to all. In Regina she was a member of St. Basils Ukrainian Catholic Parish, member of the UCWLC, caring for altar linens and sewing vestments. After moving to Winnipeg in 1990, she became a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Parish, the Apostleship of Prayer and briefly, a member of the Seniors Club. Mother met the challenges of her illness with faith and courage. May God bless and reward her. Prayers will be sung at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 14 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave., with Rev. Leonard Romanow of Regina and Basilian Fathers officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. If you desire to give flowers, give a flower to a loved one in Moms memory, or Seven Oaks Hospital Foundation, 2300 McPhillips St., or St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Maintenance or Cemetery Fund.
