Colonel Stanley Armstrong was Promoted to Glory at The Salvation Army Grace Hospital on June 10, 2002. Born in Winnipeg, MB, March 17, 1929, Lt. Colonel Armstrong served 52 years as a Salvation Army Officer in several appointments including International Public Relations Secretary in London, England, Trade Secretary in Toronto, Canada, and Divisional Commander in Northern British Columbia, Canada. Lt. Colonel Armstrong is survived by his wife of 50 years, Isabel; five sons, Gord (Connie) of St. Catharines, ON, Don (Brenda) of Chilliwack, BC, Bob (Penny) of Nanaimo, BC, Brian (Lynn) of Winnipeg, MB, Ken (Judi) of Winnipeg; one sister Ruth (Les) Doherty of Winnipeg; brother Henry (Lucille) Armstrong of Winnipeg; he also leaves 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Service of Celebration will be held on Friday, June 14 at 11:00 a.m. at The Salvation Army Heritage Park Temple, 825 School Rd., with Captain Brian Wheeler officiating. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Winnipeg Grace and friends who have supported the family through this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the William and Catherine Booth College for a memorial scholarship in Lt. Col. Armstrongs name, (447 Webb Pl., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2P2).
