Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCES E. PHILLIPS It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Frances E. Phillips, on Saturday, June 8, 2002, with her loving family at her side. Frances will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Sheila (Brad), her grandson Christopher (Cyhlee), her granddaughter Jessica, her great-grandson Ariah, and her sister Marge. Parents, Ralph and Muriel Tucker and her elder sister Helen Simpson predeceased her. Frances will also be missed by her niece Bonnie; nephews, Brian (Bev), Gary (Val) and Michael (April). Frances was born April 25, 1926, in Unity, SK. She graduated from Unity High School and went on to graduate from nursing at the Winnipeg General Hospital in 1948. She was an active member of the Eastern Star and kept up her membership even after moving to Winnipeg. Frances was a very exceptional piano/organ player and loved to play for the United Church Choir and various other functions. To her family and friends who knew and loved her, she was affectionately referred to as "Stoox," a nickname that began with her father as a small child. After her move to Winnipeg, she was evening supervisor nurse at The Golden Door Geriatric Centre. She often referred to the staff as her second family, as they were so enjoyable to work with and so good to her. Frances spent the last year of her life at the Charleswood Care Home where she developed many new and interesting friends. As requested by Frances, a celebration of her life was held on June 9, at the home of her daughter, with relatives and friends in attendance. The family would like to thank the staff of 3 north at the Grace General Hospital for their compassion and care. Frances has donated her remains to the University of Manitoba Anatomy and Cell Science Research. Her ashes will be interred at Unity, with her grandparents, parents and sister. Should friends so desire, donations in Frances memory may be made to the Anatomical Research Fund at Department of Human Anatomy and Cell Science, University of Manitoba, 730 William Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0W3.
