ALIDA KLAPRAT (nee Kretchmer) With comfort and care, her family by her side, laughing, crying, singing and praying, Alida Klaprat, aged 81, returned to her Creator on Thursday, June 13, 2002. Alida was predeceased by her parents, Gustav and Wilheminne Kretchmer; husband Ernest Klaprat; son Glen Klaprat, son and daughter-in-law Lloyd and Connie Klaprat; father-in-law Julius Klaprat; and sister-in-law Margaret Knopf. Her life will be forever celebrated and remembered by her children, Valerie and Ed Gladu, Randall and Amanda Klaprat, Sheila and Brian Kaltenberger, Steve and Rita Klaprat; grandchildren, Jason and Andrea Gladu, Michelle and Eric Klaprat, Jordan, Raelene and Alexis Klaprat, Brian and Ashley Kaltenberger, Andrew, Justin and Kaylee Klaprat; great-grandchildren, Brendon Gladu, Dylan and Tyler McPherson; and mother-in-law of 60 years, Meta Klaprat. Alida was raised on the family farm in River Hills with her brothers and sisters, Ed Kretchmer (Irene), Elsie Rohrig (the late Jack), Art Kretchmer (Edith), Margaret Polnik (Charlie) and Irma Polnik (John). She will remain forever in their hearts. She married Ernest Klaprat and operated a dairy farm in the Whitemouth area until her retirement to Beausejour, MB. Alida will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and her brother-in-law William Klaprat (Ruth), sister-in-law Dorrie Wilson (the late Edward), and brother-in-law Lorne Knopf (Doreen). Mom loved to farm, tend to the animals and do field work and garden on her riverbank. She was an amazing cook and often hosted large family gatherings with wiener roasts, singing and home made everything, including ice cream. Mom also loved to sing in the St. Paul Lutheran Choir and in later years with her friends at Stoney Plains Terrace, where she resided until the present. She cultivated a very special relationship with each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her face lighting up when they visited, followed by warm encouragement, teasing and a hug and kiss. (Pringles for Kaylee). Mom and Nana, you were one great lady, a colourful personality, offering your family and community both stability and surprise. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in River Hills, MB, with Pastor Don Reimer officiating. There will be viewing at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. A very special thanks to the incredible home care staff of Stoney Plains Terrace, Dr. Zeiler and the medical and nursing staff at Beausejour Hospital. Your genuine and professional care aided greatly in our lifes journey with Mom. "May you rejoice greatly with all those who have gone on before you. Peace be with you Mom."
