Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILFRED ARNOLD MACKINNON July 14, 1925 - June 12, 2002 Peacefully, with family by his side, Wils struggle with illness was over and he joined his brother Sam and parents, Lucy and Murdock, in the arms of Jesus. He had fought courageously and patiently, never losing faith that God is in control. Wil was born in the family farmhouse which was then located just northeast of Dugald. He soon displayed his inventiveness and craftsmanship by providing his siblings with toys he made from scraps of wood found around the farm. These talents carried through into his adult life, being used for many childrens ministries in his church, providing wood-working crafts to children in remote northern areas. Wil attended the one room schools at Millbrook and Beatrice. After completing his grade 10, he joined his dad and brother Sam in the farming business. This was interrupted by two years in the armed forces where he started in the air force and was later transferred to the P.P.C.L.I. army unit. Upon discharge, he resumed farming, bringing his mechanical skills to meet the needs of farm maintenance. Wil was always willing to share these talents with his many friends and neighbours. He was a great organizer and loved making up games and contests for many of the church picnics or social functions around the community. Wil was most recently predeceased by his brother Sam Evans; and leaves to mourn his passing his sisters, Win Evans and Sylvia Reeves; along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 18 at 1:00 p.m. at the Anola Fellowship Chapel, three miles east of Anola on Hwy. 15, then two miles south on Monominto Road. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service, with interment to follow at Millbrook Cemetery on Briercliffe Road. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Koskie, Russel McKay, George Emms, Peter Weibe and Billy Rankine. Active pallbearers will be Archie and Bruce Reeves, Garry Hudzick, Rene Grift, Rolly Hrychany and Don St. George. The family wishes to thank the home care staff from Oakbank as well as the staff at Ste. Anne Hospital for their wonderful care over the past several months. Flowers are graciously declined, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Ste. Anne Hospital or CancerCare Manitoba. Transcona Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
