REBECCA FORKE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rebecca Forke on June 7, 2002 in Fort Myers, FL, at the age of 92 years. Rebecca will be sadly missed by her daughters, Mary (Alvin) Keller of Fort Myers, Margaret (Riffat) Morgan of Sanibel Island, FL; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Margaret Hofer; husband John T. Forke; and four brothers. Rebecca was a lifelong resident of Winnipeg. She was the past president of the Womens Auxiliary of the Oxford United Church of Winnipeg and a longtime member. More recently she was a member of the Crescent Fort Rouge United Church. Rebecca was an avid bingo player. Viewing will take place on Friday, June 14 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. 1 East at Navin Road. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Crescent Fort Rouge United Church, 525 Wardlaw Ave., with the Rev. Pat Wotten officiating. Rebecca was one of my first friends when I first came to Manitoba. I used to rent her upstairs suite. She used to give me soup and invite me over for tea. She introduced me to Canada and her love of the British Royalty. She was a very intelligent lady who impressed me with her bright mind as she played bingo, and made complex math calculations at her age. She lent me her gray huge Cadillac for my first driving test, which I failed. But she trusted me with her Cadillac. I will always remember Rebecca for her huge heart, and generosity.
