FRANCES MACKONKA (nee YAREMCHUK) Frances Catherine Mackonka passed away after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, June 8, 2002 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert in her 78th year. Frances was born on March 8, 1924 in Winnipeg, MB. Frances will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lorraine (Henry) Brassard; granddaughters, Adrienna (Randy) McConnell, Valerie (Shawn) Androsoff and Rachel (Chad) Doepker; as well as by her sister Helen Ness and family of Canmore, AB; and brother Edward Yaremchuk and family of Winnipeg, MB. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Mary (Minnie), Anne, Eve, and Jenny Mackonka and Mary Gray. She was predeceased by her husband Joe in February 1969; her parents, Mary Melnyk and Andrew Yaremchuk; sisters-in-law, Stella Yaremchuk, Frances Dobrowski, and Helen Perkins; and brothers-in-law, Gunnar Ness and Tony, Walter, John and Mike Mackonka. Viewing was held on Wednesday, June 12 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Cremation followed with a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13 at Grays Funeral Chapel. In lieu of other tributes, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Grays Funeral Chapel, Prince Albert, SK (Phone 306-922-4729).
