Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID HENRY KENNEDY It is with love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our father David Henry Kennedy. Quietly and with dignity Dad left us on June 13, 2002 at Seven Oaks Hospital, to re-unite with his wife and love, Muriel Kennedy, who passed away in 1994. Left to cherish the memory of his laughter and kind and gentle ways are his sons, Phil (Lenore), Peter (Claudette), Pat (Kim) daughter Patricia (Roy) grandchildren, Paul (Jennifer), Pam, Karla (Jeff), Damon (Jacqui), Michelle, Danielle, Jesica; great-grandchildren, Philip, Sarah, Arnold, Serena and Justin; sister Patricia Palmer; along with numerous other relatives. David was born on September 13, 1919. Dad grew up in the "Dirty Thirties". He started his working career as a farmhand in Manitoba and Saskatchewan with a grade eight education. With a zest for life, Dad came to Winnipeg where he put himself through barber school. Always one to give himself and his time, Dad was a Boy Scout leader. It was here that he met Mom, the love of his life, while giving knot-tying lessons to her two sons. While working at the Winnipeg School Board for the next 25 years and raising his family, he took a course to become a stationary engineer. We each have our special memories of our times with Dad: scent of your pipe, your smile, your hearty laugh, your ability to talk to absolutely anybody, your values, your devotion to your family and your ready ear for listening. You showed us how to embrace life through example. Most recently on your trip, at age 79, to Churchill to see polar bears, and the humour displayed when you came home disappointed, but eventually laughed when you didnt see a single polar bear in the week of rain that you were there, except for the stuffed bears in the museum. With these wonderful memories youve given us such as your woodwork, knitting, needlepoint, and never ending unconditional love and support, we will remember you and all that you have helped us become. We love you Dad. Good-bye. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. At Davids request, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held Monday, June 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
