NORMAN WILLOUGHBY With great sadness and sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband and father Norman Willoughby on June 14, 2002. The dearly beloved husband of Margarette, his wife of sixty years, and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Although his death was sudden, The Lord acknowledged Normans kind spirit and brought him home quickly. He leaves to mourn his wife Margarette, son Rod (Judy), daughter Charlotte (Bob), son Dwight (Leah), son Randy (Alwine), and son Ron (Lil). Family members left grieving his loss are sisters-in-law, Doreen, Myrtle (Reg), Hilda, Gladys; brothers-in-law Gordie, Jack (Linda) as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins across Canada and his relatives in England. Norman was blessed with 12 grandchildren who will sadly miss him, Rod, Colin, Dwight, Eric, Jonathan, Nathaniel, Matthew, Daniel, Gregory, Joshua, David and Kate; along with four great-grandchildren, Connor, Matthew, Meghan, and Charlotte. Norman was born December 6, 1918, to Walter and Ellen in Parkside, SK. He was the youngest of six children, Katherine, Godfry, Mable, Colin, and Ted, all of whom predeceased him. Norman lost his mother at age five and always longed for her. Now we hope he is reunited with her. Norman saw active service in the Second World War with 101 CDN LAA BTY RCA as Lance Corporal stationed out of Moosemin, SK, and served from 1941 in Europe to return home to his family in Winnipeg, late November 1945. Norman was honourably discharged as a disabled veteran of the war. Following the war Norm was employed by the Eatons Company and served as a Correctional Officer of the Province of Manitoba until his retirement. All of his life he was an avid gardener, a member of the Masonic Millennium Lodge No. 182, the Legion, St. Pauls Anglican Church and the Fort Garry Horticultural Society. During his retirement he was a volunteer for the Fort Whyte Nature Centre and the Canadian Cancer Society. Norman will best be remembered for his gentle and forgiving nature as a husband and father. Friends and acquaintances may wish to give donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8, or a charity of their choice in his memory in lieu of flowers. The family thanks the paramedics and staff of Victoria General Hospital for their care. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with interment to follow. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
