ANNIE WISHNIWECKI On June 12, 2002, after a short illness, Annie Wishniwecki (Wish), beloved wife of the late Martin Wishniwecki, passed away in Kelowna General Hospital at the age of 92. Born in Winnipeg on May 2, 1910, Annie grew up in the Arnes area, where she met and married Martin in 1927. They farmed in the area until moving to Winnipeg with their three daughters in 1945. After the passing of Martin, Annie moved to Kelowna, BC in 1992 to live with her eldest daughter Mary and son-in-law Nick. Annie loved to cook, knit and crochet, and spent many hours in her always prosperous gardens. When not busy with work, she enjoyed visiting with her many friends. Amongst those who will greatly miss Annie are her daughters, Mary (Nick) Winchar of Kelowna, Eileen (Harry) Meiklejohn of West St. Paul, MB, and Millie Wishniwecki of Parksville, BC; her grandchildren, Allan (Brenda) Winchar of Winnipeg, Chris Winchar of Kelowna, Sandy (Terry) Ostertag of Calgary, AB, Robin (Twila) Ostertag of Fort St. John, AB, Wendy (Mark) Ostertag of Parksville, Russ (Sue) Ostertag of Calgary, Randy (Diane) Meiklejohn of Petawawa, ON, and Heather (Richard) Meiklejohn of Edinburgh, Scotland; her great-grandchildren, Nancy and Sara Nassef of Calgary, Brad, Gavin and Cory Winchar of Winnipeg, Melissa, Stephanie and Josh Penner of Parksville, Derek and Delaney Ostertag of Calgary, and Kolia Winchar of Kelowna. Prayers will take place on Sunday, June 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, June 17 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Josephs Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave. with Bishop Michael Wiwchar, C.Ss.R. and Rev. B. Kyba, C.Ss.R. officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, Annie would like a donation made to your local Humane Society to help with the care and upkeep of her other great love, dogs, or to the charity of your choice.
