(FRANCES) JEAN ENS September 10, 1937 - June 14, 2002 With her family at her side, Jean Ens, aged 64 years, at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital, June 14, 2002. Jean was pre-deceased by her husband, Ernie (March 8, 2001), and her parents, (Alfred) Clyde and Isabelle (Stuart) Laughlin. She was raised in Pierson and Melita, MB. Jean received her B.A. from United College, and her B.Ed. from the University of Manitoba. She met Ernie while they were students at United College, and they were married in 1961. Jean taught in Selkirk when they were first married, and then at Teulon Collegiate until her retirement in 1997. Jean spent her summers in her garden, making "pie jam" and strawberry tarts, and following baseball. She loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally, and was the consummate hostess to the last. She will be sadly missed by her children, Mandy, Thomas (Melinda) and Christian (Dijana) her grandchildren, Jillian, Jackson, Nikole and Jason; Ernies brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews; and her cousin Isabelle (Paul) and their children, Paula (Glenn) and Michael (Patti). We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Graham and all of the nurses at Hunter Memorial Hospital for their tender ministrations to mom and to us. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 19 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Teulon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital. To die, to sleep - No more - and by a sleep to say we end The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks That flesh is heir to. Tis a consummation Devoutly to be wishd. To die, to sleep; To sleep, perchance to dream. - Hamlet, III, i. MacKenzie Funeral Homes, Teulon, in charge of arrangements.

Hello. I am writing because believe I was a classmate of Jean's when she attended Brandon College in her First Year (1954). She soon transferred to Winnipeg, attending United College. We lost touch, but I heard from somewhere that she had become a teacher. Jean told me she came from Pierson/Melita. She had very fair skin, blonde hair, slight build, and stood about 5' 2 or 3" tall. If this description does not fit your Mom, would you please so advise? I've often thought of her through the years and wondered where she was.
