JOHN (JACK) GRAY McDONALD 1913 - 2002 Peacefully on June 15, 2002, at Seven Oaks Hospital, Jack passed away surrounded by his beloved wife and family. Jack was born in Mulveyhill on June 23, 1913. He was one of 10 children born to John and Jenny McDonald. He met Joy and was married July 13, 1940. They celebrated 61 years of a loving marriage. Jack and Joy spent many weekends dancing which they both loved to do. He served in the Canadian Forces from 1941 to 1946 in active duty overseas and was a 50 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by his loving wife Joy; and his children, John (Bridgit) Vancouver, Henry (Betty), Jerry (Kathy), Brian (Liz) also predeceased by daughter Colleen (1994). Grandchildren, Rob (Diane), Cathy (Moses), Glen (Lisa), Jamie (Carmen), Dawn (Terry), Tim (Sarah), Carla, Tanis, Brett and John (Janis) of Winnipeg and Anita (Frank), Kevin (Diane), Darren of Vancouver; great-grandchildren, Chris, Cody, Lisa, Katelyn, Jesse, Lucas, Ryan and Bailey of Winnipeg, Megan, Ashleigh and Eric of Vancouver. Jack is survived by sisters, Carrie Benneke, Lila Slobodian of California and Ethel Symko. We would like to thank some of the special people that made it possible for Jack to spend his remaining years at home: Rose, Diane, Rui, Dean, Janina, Lema and Nur. Memorial service will take place on Wednesday, June 19 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., officiating Rev. Toni Maunder. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Ronald McDonald House or a charity of your choice.
