JOSEPH SMOLAK Peacefully, on Monday, June 17, 2002 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital Joseph Smolak passed away, at the age of 76 years. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Brenda Boettcher (Mike) and Donna Wowk (Ron) son-in-law Ross Mason; grandchildren, Joey (Sherri), Melissa, Ryan, Jessica, Amanda, Dustin; and great-grandchild Hunter. Joseph also leaves behind out-of-town nieces, and nephew, Judy, Barry, and Sandra. He was predeceased by his loving wife Tekla (Tillie) his parents, Demetro and Mary; and his daughter Nancy Mason. Joseph was born on Sunday, March 15, 1926 in Rosser, MB, started working with C.P.R. in 1943 as a carman at Weston Shops at the age of 17, retiring in November 1986. He was a very caring person, with his family being the most important to him. Joe loved going to the horse races, having his family over for Sunday dinner, his pets, going grocery shopping, and fixing cars. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 20, at 11:00 a.m. at Knysh Funeral Home, 1020 Main St., with Rev. Deacon Walter Knysh officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be messers: Ross Mason, Mike Boettcher, Ron Wowk, Joey Wlett, Ryan Wowk, and James Lacy. Sincere thanks to Drs. Tsang, Eng, staff, and managers, and especially to the nurses of 5BU3 and 5BU5, for all their kindness, and never ending care for our father.
