EFFIE MUNRO COOK October 28, 1901 Peacefully on June 17, 2002 at the Kin Place Personal Care Home, Oakbank, MB, Effie Cook passed away at the age of 100 years. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jack (Beth), Ken (Eleanor), Ron (Elisabeth) daughters, Anne Percy (Del), Margaret Hadaller (Dennis) and daughter-in-law Rena. Also are 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; her sister Maggie; and lifelong friends, the Reids. She was predeceased by her husband Charlie in 1978, son Ferg in 1977, and an infant son in 1941. Mom was born in Glasgow, Scotland and came to Canada in 1911 as a young girl. She married Dad in 1924 and until 1935 they farmed in Gravelbourg, SK. They moved to the South Plympton area where they continued farming until moving to Dugald in 1969. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mom was proud to be a lifelong and active member of the United Church, both in South Plympton and Dugald and lived her life accordingly. Her love of cooking and baking will be remembered by many members of all community organizations of which she was a part. One of her greatest pleasures was curling and many hours were spent enjoying the game. Discussing how the game was won or was not won over a cup of coffee was equally important. We would like to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Kowaluk and the entire staff of Kin Place Personal Care Home for the care and kindness extended to Mom and to all of our family. A celebration of her life will be held in the Oakbank United Church on Thursday, June 20 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Jane Wetelainen officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Dugald United Church, Box 70, Dugald, MB R0E 0K0 or the Kin Place Volunteer Group, Box 28, Oakbank, MB R0E 1J0. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
