Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryETHEL IRENE GARNER Ethel Irene Garner, late of Chilliwack, BC, formerly of Winnipeg, MB, died peacefully in McIntosh Lodge April 29, 2002 in her 101st year. Ethel was born in Winnipeg January 10, 1902 to Anne and Andrew Lockhart who pioneered in the North with the Hudson Bay Company. She lived most of her life in Winnipeg and moved to Chilliwack in 1986. Ethel lived independently until the last two years, moving to McIntosh Lodge in March of this year. She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Gilbert (Margaret) of Winnipeg and Stanley (Irene) of Chilliwack; by her daughter Shirley (Reg) Romans with whom she resided for a short time; by her 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Margaret Mickle of California, Vera Dunham of Chilliwack and Amy Garner of Winnipeg; and brother-in-law Kenneth Garner (Nora) and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ethel was predeceased by her husband Herbert in 1976, her six brothers and their wives, and one sister Edna McDougal (Grant) who remained her dear friend until her death in 2001, and by her granddaughter Elaine. A memorial service was held Monday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Thomas Anglican Church, corner of 1st and Gore Avenue. Rev. Charles Lenz officiated.
