HENRI DELAQUIS Peacefully with his loved ones at his side, Henri Delaquis (Papa) entered into his eternal rest Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at the Riverview Health Centre. Henri will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Lorette of 47 years; sons, Gilles of Edmonton, AB, Normand and friend Jenny of Buffalo, NY; daughters, Lynne (Randy) Brandstrom of Edmonton, and Anna (Richard) Gousseau of La Salle; cherished grandfather of five grandchildren, Melissa and Justin Brandstrom, and Joel, Christine and Danielle Gousseau. He is also survived by his sisters, Jeanne (Fern) Dufresne, Lucienne Perez; brothers, Roland, Rene, Denis; and numerous supportive relatives and friends. Henri was predeceased by his parents Anna and Paul; sister Regina; and brothers, George and Gilbert. Papa was born on December 1, 1933 in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. In 1955 he married Mom and together they raised us four children in St. Norbert. For 33 years he worked as an owner/operator, long distance driver, moving people from Coast to Coast. He loved to work but unfortunately his working days were cut short when he sadly fell victim to cancer. He was a hardworking man and a great provider who kept his family happy and secure. Papa had a good heart both in body and soul and we will miss him dearly. He was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life like gathering with family and friends for challenging card games and good conversation. At home he loved to relax in his chair to read and to calculate but mostly, he enjoyed reminiscing with Mom. He always made time to chat with his grandchildren who were more than happy to update him with all their news. A memory that is permanently etched in our minds is the way he would make us laugh with his talking eyes, unique sense of humour and great wit that shone through until the near end of his days. Since final farewells are never easy, in your memory Papa, we reiterate your words and rest assured that we will "Hold the Fort Baby!" Our family gratefully thank Dr. Kirk, the staff of Unit 3 East at the Riverview Health Centre and the Home Care personnel for their dedication and compassion. We also express our appreciation to family and friends who have been and continue to be sources of tremendous support. As expression of sympathy, if family and friends so wish, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Donations, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. At Papas request cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 25 at 2:00 p.m. in Eglise St-Eugene Roman Catholic Church, 1007 St. Marys Rd., with Mgr. Noel Delaquis presiding and Fr. Marcel Toupin co-celebrant. Private interment of the cremated remains will take place on Wednesday, June 26. Desjardins Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 233-4949; toll free 1-888-233-4949.
