Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTANLEY GEORGE TRAVERSE November 5, 1934 - June 18, 2002 With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved dad Stanley George Traverse on Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at the age of 67 years. At an early age Dad worked as a farm hand in Alberta and Atikokan, ON, and at Selkirk Fisheries. He was a fisherman on Lake Winnipeg and enjoyed hunting. On March 25, 1959 he married Carrie and supported his family as a school bus driver for six years and a school custodian for eight years for Lake St. Martin First Nation, where he also farmed. In 1975, he relocated with his family to Winnipeg and held various custodian positions at the Hudson Bay Company, Legislative Building, Native Club and Grey Goose Bus Lines. In 1988 he retired due to his health. Stanley was a quiet man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humour. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Harriet; brother Allan; niece Stella; nephew Darrell; and brother-in-law Joseph Woodford. He leaves to mourn his passing wife Carrie; daughters, Bonny, Beverley, Yvonne (Barry) Abraham and Marina Henderson; sons, Rockie, Roger and Darren; brothers, Alexander and Lawrence (Margaret) sisters, Eva Woodford and Susan; special grandson Rockie Jr.; grand-children, Crystal, Melody, Charlene, Vanessa, Derek, Greg, Craig, Samantha, Darren Jr., Clayton, Carla and Shelly; there are 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Prayers and wake services will be held on Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22, both at 7:30 p.m. at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Ave., Winnipeg. In accordance with Stanleys wish, a closed casket funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lake St. Martin Apostolic Church, with Pastor David Sinclair officiating. Interment to follow at the Lake St. Martin Reserve Cemetery. Beyond the gate our loved one finds peace and rest; And there is comfort in the thought, that a loving God knows best.
