ERIKA DICKOF Erika Dickof passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 20, 2002, at 11:15 a.m., after a short illness, at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. The family gratefully acknowledges the wonderful care from the nursing staff and physicians in attendance, especially Drs. Sheila, Oscar and Heather Domke. Erika was born April 8, 1927, in Schriesheim, Germany, and grew up in Germany during the war. She was predeceased by her brother Karl in 1943, her father Karl in 1969 and her mother Katharina in 1978. She is survived by brothers, Erwin, Joseph and Ludwig; and sister Gisela. She immigrated to Canada in 1951 for adventure, arriving in Toronto and later travelling to Winnipeg to reunite with Henry Dickof whom she met in Heidelberg in 1947. She married Henry on August 2, 1952, in Winnipeg, where they raised two children, Peter and Diana. While raising a family she continued to work, and for many years was a legal secretary for the well respected solicitor Arnold Karl Kimmel. She always approached new challenges with zest. She loved travel and photography, going to the cottage at Winnipeg Beach/Boundary Park and watching the birds. With her husband Henry, she was a longtime active member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and a dedicated member of the church choir. She also found time to knit, read, garden, and correspond with friends and relatives in North America and Europe. She is survived by her loving husband Henry; her two children, Peter and Diana; and grandchildren, Carla and Raymond. The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 24 at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, on the corner of Wellington Crescent and Academy Road.
