Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILBUR COX GUEST Bill passed away peacefully on June 21, 2002 at St. Margarets Centre in Montreal. His wife Dorothy predeceased him. He is survived by his sons, Michael (Barbara) and Peter (Suzan) daughter Susan Curry; and grandchildren, Jeffrey (Rebecca), Michael, Tara, Peter; and his great-grandchild Will; his sisters, Margaret Wilson, Elizabeth Ebbern (Keith) and brother David (Helen) and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Winnipeg, he graduated in medicine from the University of Manitoba, followed by post-graduate studies at Harvard and North Western Universities. He served Canada during the Second World War as a medical officer in the RCAF in Britain. Following studies at the Cook County Opthalmalogical Institute, he established his practice in Winnipeg. In addition to serving his patients at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre, Bill was the ophthalmologist for the RCAF bases and the Deer Lodge Hospital in Manitoba for many years. Bill was an avid sports fan with a particular love of sailing. He actively raced his boat in the Clearwater Bay, Kenora and Lakehead circuits. He co-chaired the yacht racing events at the 1967 Pan-Am Games and represented Manitoba at national events. Bill was also a keen curler at the Winnipeg Winter Club. He was the "team Doctor" for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for 16 years. Cremation will be private. There will be a memorial service at St. Andrews River Heights United Church, Tuesday, August 6 at 1:00 p.m.
