Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAGNES ROZON With wonderful and great memories and very deep sadness we say good bye to Agnes Rozon, our cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and great friend. Agnes died peacefully in Selkirk, MB in the Selkirk General Hospital on June 21, 2002 surrounded by family and friends, following a courageous battle with cancer. Agnes was born to George and Annie Yuzek on July 24, 1938 in Stenen, SK. In 1945 her parents moved to Birch River, MB where Agnes completed her education. After school and on weekends Agnes had numerous part time jobs working at Steve Gingeras Restaurant, Birch River Bakery, and Tom Toys Restaurant. After graduation she moved to Winnipeg where she found her first job working for the Toronto Dominion Bank. Needing more of a challenge, she found employment over the next few years with Herndorfs Stock Brokerage and then Consolidated Motors. Agnes began her career in the hotel industry when in 1971 she purchased the Fannystelle Hotel in Fannystelle, MB, selling the business in 1978 to move to Thompson, MB where she managed the Thompson Inn. Agnes continued to pursue her career in Thompson and went to work for Lawrence and Alice Maksymetz managing the Burntwood Inn. In 1993 she moved to Couchenour, ON and managed the Balmer Hotel until 1997. Agnes then moved to Swan River, MB where at this time she helped to care for her ailing mother Annie. In the fall of 1998 she continued to pursue her career, moving to Stonewall, MB and managing the Rockwood Motor Inn. In the fall of 2000 she went into business with Ed and Shirley Dandeneau purchasing the Smittys Family Restaurant and the Daerwood Hotel in Selkirk. Agnes worked in the hotel industry for 25 years and in October 2001 she was presented with her Quarter Century Award from the Manitoba Hotel Association. Agnes found great enjoyment and fulfilment in her career where she cultivated and obtained many great friends. She earned love and respect from her employers, employees and her many friends no matter where she worked or lived. Her greatest accomplishment was when her daughter Shelly was born in 1963. She was overjoyed to become a baba in 1999 when her granddaughter Danielle was born. Agnes loved it when she called her "Babaruski". She again was blessed when her grandson Brendin was born in 2001 and was very happy to have lived long enough to see him. Agnes did not have much time for hobbies, as her job was her priority. She enjoyed a good card game, Ukrainian music, and she loved to travel. She enjoyed her many flights after being introduced to flying by Lawrence Maksymetz, as well as the many road trips in Balmer Town with her dear friend Sam "Sammy" Fulawka. Agnes leaves to cherish her precious memory her only daughter Shelly Rozon and husband Jim Bouchard and two grandchildren, Danielle and Brendin. Her sisters, Sylvia Skulmoski (Morrice) of Swan River, Alice Ginter (Harold) of The Pas, MB, and Violet Grazier (Keith) of Swan River; and her only brother Dave Yuzek (Betty) of Swan River. Also numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father George Yuzek in 1964 and her mother Annie Yuzek in 1999. Agnes will be remembered for her zest for life, her open and affectionate nature, unconditional support, her kindness and generosity, and her keen interest in the lives of everyone she touched. She loved a good party and was sustained by the companionship of her family and many friends. Agnes fought a hard battle and her determination to live was demonstrated throughout the past year. She continued to work and rarely missed a day until the last month. She rarely complained and was first to admit she was not going to win the battle, even until the end she demonstrated her unique nature to continue to support us and encourage us. Agnes had many close friends wherever she lived and considered many of them her family, which was profoundly demonstrated when she fell victim to cancer, Ed and Shirley Dandeneau, daughter Tanice, Jade and Rich Sawatsky, daughter Mackenzie, Lawrence and Alice Maksymetz, Doug and Myrna Stemkoski, Sam and Freida Fulawka, and Nora Kick. A memorial service to celebrate Agnes life was held in Selkirk on Sunday, June 23 at Gilbart Funeral Home with Fr. Bill Wasyliw from Transcona officiating. A reception was held at the Daerwood Banquet and Conference Centre. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, June 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church of Holy Ascension in Swan River. Funeral services will be held at the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church of Holy Ascension in Swan River on Wednesday, June 26 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Michael Lomaszkiewicz officiating. Interment to follow at the Birch Wood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ed Dandeneau, Lawrence Maksymetz, Doug Stemkoski, Sam Fulawka, Michael Ginter, and Sheldon Skulmoski. Arrangements entrusted to Swan Valley Funeral Service Ltd., Swan River. Agnes you will never know how much you were appreciated and will be missed by your family, many friends, and your nieces and nephews, who considered you "The Greatest Auntie" and your buddy Morrice. May God Bless and Keep You Always. VICHNAYA PAMYAT

She was Nora's friend (Dick not Kick) but that's okay. She was a beautiful person. Nora has also passed away with cancer 3 and a half years ago and I just accidentally came across this obituary while doing non-related searches. Peace to the family and friends.... - Posted by: Katie Crait (my sister Nora Dick was her friend) on: Apr 11, 2012
