IAN F. ROSS Peacefully, surrounded by his family, Ian Ross passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2002 at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 79 years. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Dorothy; his children, Wendy Mitchell (Hugh), Sheilah Campbell (Jack), Neil Ross (Jo-Anne), David Ross (Brenda) as well as his foster son Jim; grandchildren, Dan and Jillian Mitchell, Shaun and Melissa Campbell, Roxanne, Derek and Chantal Ross, Sheldon and Robbie Ross; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He also leaves to mourn his beloved pets, Peavey and Tigger. Ian was born in Winnipeg on February 11, 1923, the only son of John and Anne Ross. He attended Lord Roberts School and Kelvin High School. During the Second World War, he served his country proudly with the Royal Canadian Navy. After the war, he was employed by the Canadian National Railway for 35 years. He retired at age 55 and worked on one of his true loves, developing historically accurate plays such as "Clearances", a play he collaborated on for MTC. Ian was a kind and giving person, with a keen sense of humour. During his life, he was involved with many organizations such as Windsor Masonic Lodge, Bethel 2 of Jobs Daughters and Clan Ross, to name a few. Ian had great faith in God, and was an active member of several churches over the years: Rosedale, St. Vital, Oxford and Transcona Memorial United Churches. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather and spent many happy days with his family at Matlock and around his backyard pool. A memorial service, to celebrate Ians life, will be held on Tuesday, June 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave. W. Rev. Jeff Cook and Rev. Carol Fletcher officiating. Green Acres Memorial Gardens in care of arrangements. Special thanks to the ICU staff at Concordia Hospital, especially Lonnie, Amanda, and Katrina. You are all very special, caring people. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Transcona Memorial United Church Piano Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Ian, we will love you and miss you "Always".
