Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY ELIZABETH MILLS (nee STENHOUSE) On Friday, June 21, 2002, at the Gimli Betel Home, Dorothy Elizabeth Mills, aged 85 years, of Winnipeg Beach, MB, passed away. Dorothy was born in Winnipeg on February 13, 1917, and spent most of her years growing up in both Manitoba and Saskatchewan. She was the daughter of Emily Moon and Thomas Stenhouse and was one of five girls and three boys. She married William Leonard Mills on November 1, 1939, who predeceased her on March 2, 1979. For many years they lived in the Boissevain area, moving to Winnipeg Beach in 1950. In 1959 Dorothy and Len started up Dorothys Cafe which they owned and operated for 15 years, retiring in 1974. Mom also operated the canteen in the curling rink and was an avid curler. She also belonged to the United Church Ladies Auxillary, working at the teas they held, as well as baking bread for the bake sales. Left to cherish her memory is her son John Mills of Calgary, AB; daughter Carol (Andrew) Boitson of Winnipeg Beach; grandaughters, Tara (Dave) Boyer of Calgary; Erin (Sheldon) Mills Weigel of Airdrie, AB; grandons, Randy, Ryley and Robert Boitson of Winnipeg Beach; four great-grandchildren, Jessica, Sadie and Alexander Boyer of Calgary and William Boitson of Winnipeg Beach; sisters, Susan Young of Cochrane, AB, Ethel (Bill) Cullen of Elkhorn, MB; brothers Tom (Bette) Stenhouse of Mount Brydges, ON; as well as many nieces and nephews throughout Canada and England. Also left to cherish her memory is her special niece Marie Pemkowski and best friend Pauline Olson. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 27 at 1:00 pm. in the Our Lady of the Lake Church, Winnipeg Beach, with Rev. Lynn Stevens officiating. Interment to follow in the Winnipeg Beach Community Cemetery. Special thanks to all the staff and nurses at Betel Home for their excellent care shown to Dorothy.
