NADIA CZANK 1922 - 2002 On Saturday, June 22, 2002, at the Concordia Hospital, with her daughters by her side, Nadia Czank passed away. Mom leaves to mourn her passing, son Wally of Calgary; daughter Olga and husband Gary Komoski; daughter Regina and husband Rod Kachulak. Mom will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Nola and husband Adam Wedlake, Colleen and Lisa Kachulak, David, Kristi and Bobby Czank of Calgary; also great-granddaughter Emma Wedlake. Mom was predeceased by her husband Stan, August 7, 2001, and family in Ukraine during the Second World War. Mom was born in Ukraine December 7, 1922. Due to the circumstances of the times, Mom was forced to relocate and work in Germany. It was during the war years that Mom met our Dad. They married and were blessed with twins, Wally and Olga. In 1949, at the conclusion of the war, they immigrated to Western Australia. In Australia their family was completed with Reginas birth. In Australia Mom worked side by side with her husband, trying to overcome obstacles of a foreign language and culture. In 1963 the family ventured to Canada in search of better opportunities. Mom was employed, both in Australia and Winnipeg, in the garment industry. She was such a talented, modest person. She could tailor an old rag into a beautiful garment for us. Her work was meticulously and patiently done. However, when the grandchildren began arriving, working outside the home ended, and years of loving, playing, feeding and nurturing her grandchildren followed. Her quiet patient tenderness will always be remembered. Years at Camp Rusalka were great years watching her family enjoy camp life and socializing with her fellow campers. In recent years, poor health curtailed their weekends at Rusalka. Mom enjoyed her home environment. The best Ukrainian dishes were prepared by our Babas hands. She enjoyed sitting on the front veranda chatting with her neighbours and tending to her garden. After Dads passing she resided with Olga. At this time she was able to enjoy some social outings, talk "briefly" on the phone to her friends and spend precious time with little Emma. Mom was a mom of moms. She loved us unconditionally and we loved her equally in return. She was an angel on earth and now an angel in heaven. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated June 26, 10:00 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Church, Munroe Avenue and Watt Street, with Rev. Darren Kawiuk officiating. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Nadias memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your own choice. Special appreciation is especially extended to Dr. Gorski and nursing staff on N.East2 of Concordia Hospital. Mom, we love you, and you will never be forgotten.
