PETER SHEPHERD April 23, 1928 - June 21, 2002 It is with deeply saddened hearts that the family of Peter Shepherd announces his passing. He died peacefully at St. Boniface General Hospital on Friday, June 21, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory his daughters, Diane and husband Rob, Margaret and husband David; sons, Iain and wife Kim, Brian and wife Terry; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Vanessa, Richard, Sheila, Kyle, and Cameron; and in Scotland, his sister Margaret; and sisters-in-law, Marjorie and Lizzie; along with many nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered by his dearest friends, Joyce and Robert King and their family and very dear friend Elsie in Penticton. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and William; his brothers, John and Willie; and his wife Julia. Peter was born on April 23, 1928 at Langour, Devonside, Scotland, and came to Canada in 1952. He was a baker by trade, working many years for Dominion stores and later working for Safeway stores. Peter was well-known for his delicious baking and made many wedding cakes for family and friends. He volunteered for the Winnipeg Harvest for many years. Peter was a very caring and loving person and will be missed by all who knew him. Memorial service will be held at Ness Avenue Baptist Church, 2700 Ness Ave., on Thursday, June 27 at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Bob Shepansky will be officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peters memory to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg MB R3E 0V9. Our family gratefully thank the staff in the Palliative Care Unit of the St. Boniface Hospital, the Palliative Care Home Care personnel and the staff in the Oncology Department at the Victoria General Hospital and the friends who helped our Dad during his illness and helped us in our time of need.
