LILLIAN JOYCE WILLIE (nee SPERRING) After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Lillian passed away with her family by her side on June 22, 2002 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Lillian was 60 years of age. Lillian will be lovingly remembered by her husband Darryl of 41 years; daughter Joy (Gary) Scheurmann; son Rob (Carole) Willie; grandsons, Kyle and Trevor Scheurmann; father Art Sperring (Ellen Wilson) sister Doreen (Ken) Johannesson; niece Terri-Lee Johannesson (Sue McMaster) nephew Jason (Patti) Johannesson; sister-in-law Drinda Wood (Cal Murray) and many other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Winnifred Sperring and in-laws, Marion and Frank Willie. Lillian attended Norberry School in St. Vital where in Grade 8 she met Darryl. Her schooling continued at Glenlawn Collegiate where upon graduating she worked for London Life. She married Darryl in 1961 and left London Life when her daughter was born. During her high school years, Lillian worked for A & P and returned there part-time while she raised her daughter. For a few years during the early 70s, the family was transferred to Gillam, MB and Lillian was involved in YBC bowling, Brownies and assisted in a local grocery store. While in Gillam, her son Rob was born. Upon the familys return to Winnipeg, Lillian worked as a switchboard operator at Victoria Hospital and St. Amant Centre. Lillian took a break from full-time work while her son was in his junior school years. From 1981 until retirement in 1998, Lillian worked as the medical secretary and then administrative assistant at St. Amant Centre. Lillian was the center of the family keeping everything in order. She is cherished by her two grandsons who referred to her as "Grammy". She left them not only many memories, but their Grammy blankets, "Love Bugs" and scratch tickets. Lillian was a computer whiz and super typist who loved anything to do with computers. Many thanks to longtime family physician Dr. Oscar Domke, and Dr. Marianne Krahn and associates, Dr. Daeninck and Dr. Forrester, the chemotherapy staff, Dr. Cooke and the Radiology staff at CancerCare Manitoba, St. Boniface Hospital. Special thanks to all the nursing and support staff on 5B at St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion and dedication to Lillians care during this past month. Cremation has taken place and a private family inurnment will follow at a later date. If friends so desire and in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lillian may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, St. Boniface Hospital. We love you forever, We like you for always, As long as were living Our Grammy youll be. We love you once. We love you twice. We love you more than stuff....
