BOB "BIG MAC" MACKIE Big Mac passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2002, at the Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 60. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Lynn. Big Mac was born in Hayes Middlesex, England, on April 13, 1942, to Louise Elizabeth Jones and William A. Mackie. He had one brother, David William, and one sister, Jennifer. Big Mac came to Canada November 1969, and in October 1976 met the love of his life whom he married three years later to the day. Big Mac spent his entire working career with Federal Pioneer/Pauwels Canada Inc., his first and only job in Canada (with a one-year foray as a taxi cab driver with Red Patch so he could get married), starting as an oil processor to the position of Internal Auditor. He was dedicated to the cause of fairness and safety in the workplace, spending the last few years as chief negotiator for the United Steelworkers Local 4297. He will be greatly missed by all those who worked with him and those whom he helped. A special thanks to the Doyle, Hart and Oystreck families for their love and support throughout the years and from these families and others who were the recipients of Big Macs overwhelming generosity. And thanks to all the doctors, nursing and support staff of the Concordia Hospital, as well as Seven Oaks Hospital, for their compassion and dedication during his final days. Prayers will be held on Thursday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m., and the funeral services will be held Friday, June 28 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint), at 2:00 p.m. Cremation and interment will take place privately at a later date.
