FERDINAND MATTHEW (SANDY) NYS Peacefully, on June 24, 2002 at the age of 83 years old, Ferdinand (Sandy) Nys passed away at the Beausejour District Hospital surrounded by his family. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Juliette; and daughters, Irene (Phil) Lester, Lorraine (Wayne) Wuirch, Linda (Grant) Rowe, Sandra (George) Leclerc and Corinne Nys. Also eight grandchildren, Debra (Doug) Robinson, Michele Lester, Jeff (Kim) Wuirch, Josh Wuirch (Kelleigh), Sandra (Jeff) Montpetit, Kristopher Rowe, Christine Leclerc, Joel (Diana) Leclerc and three great-grandchildren. Sandy will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Sandy was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Albert and by sister Margaret and brothers, Fred and Lawrence and is survived by Harriet, Albert, George, Mary and Jean. Sandy served five years in the South Saskatchewan Regiment. He then worked for 42 years for Medo Land/Modern Dairies until his retirement in April of 1984 at Gull Lake where he spent 18 happy years. Special thanks to Dr. Corder, the wonderful nurses and staff at Beausejour District Hospital for their care and compassion of our husband and father. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to Winnipeg Harvest, 1085 Winnipeg Ave., R3E 0S2, where Sandys daughter Corinne is a volunteer. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road, Thursday, June 27 at 2:00 p.m. A private family urn placement will be held in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
