HENRY ROBERT ANDERSON Henry Robert Anderson died on June 29, 2002, at the Bow Crest Nursing Home in Calgary, at the age of 73. He was the loving and much loved husband of Winona; father of Dr. Lorraine Anderson (Dr. Bruce Symons), and Bruce Anderson; and grandfather of Kristin Gossen and Jon Symons, all of Calgary. Henry was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Phyllis Anderson of Dugald, MB; and by one brother Harold. He is survived by his brother Charles (Irene) of Winnipeg; and sister Elizabeth (Charles Turner) of Killarney, MB; and in-laws, Dr. David MacLennan (Linda), Marilyn Dewart (Dudley), Dr. Greg MacLennan (Carrol) and May Goral (Ron) and many nieces and nephews. Henry was born in St. Vital, MB on March 18, 1929, and spent his early years in the Dugald district. Henry was a teacher who began his career in the Swan River Valley in 1950. While there, he met, and later married Winona MacLennan in 1955, moving to Oyen, AB, of that year. Henry taught for 36 years, 24 years as an Electronics Instructor at the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute. After retirement, he became a member of the Lethbridge Public School Board until he was forced to retire because of poor health. For most of his life, Henry was an energetic man of many interests. He was an amateur radio operator for over 50 years (VE6LK), a scoutmaster (Oyen, Vulcan), and was an excellent woodworker. His interest in Archaeology led to a degree in the subject, and he spent many happy summers visiting sites in Mexico and working as a volunteer at "digs" in southern Alberta. He enjoyed friendships with people who visited his shop and with those who shared his varied interests. He was a past director of the Lethbridge Historical Society, a past president of the Lethbridge Archaeology Society and was a member of the Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists. A memorial service will be held at the Cornerstone Funeral Home, 2825-32nd St. S., Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, July 4, at 11:00 a.m. To email expressions of sympathy: casaverde72@shaw.ca Those who wish, may donate to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 426-6th St. S., Lethbridge, AB T1J 4S2, in Henrys memory.
