After an arduous three year journey through Asia and the South Pacific, he and his mother arrived in California and spent the next two and a half years in a refugee camp in Leon, Mexico. Edward Zwerciadloski of Stonewall, MB travelled to Leon, Mexico, where he met and married Lornes mom and together they all journeyed to Canada, to his farm. Lorne received his public school education there. His career in broadcasting began in Winnipeg by working as summer relief radio announcer for CBC Radio. In 1962 he married Lela Radzyminski. In 1971 Lorne accepted the position as news broadcaster at CFQC TV in Saskatoon and he and his family relocated there. He worked at CJWW and CKOM Radio stations in Saskatoon and at radio stations in Winnipeg and Calgary. Lorne was a caring, gentle man, who could tell a good joke. He was proud of his familys accomplishments and told them so. Lornes interests were writing poetry and photography. Due to poor health, he was unable to continue working at broadcasting. While living in Regina, he volunteered at the public library by reading stories to pre-school children. A memorial service will be held in Calgary (where he always wanted to live) on Friday, June 28 at 4:30 p.m. at the Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association Hall, 5600 Center St. North, Calgary, AB.
