ANNE STEPBERGER August 6, 1928 - June 26, 2002 It is with deeply saddened hearts that the family of Anne Stepberger announce her passing. With her family at her side, she died peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital, on Wednesday, June 26, 2002, following a lengthy illness. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memories her loving husband of 51 years, Alfred Stepberger; daughter Brenda (Paul) Kowalczuk; son Barry Stepberger; her grandchildren, Marcy and Paul Jr.; and her great-granddaughter Hailey. As well, Anne is survived by two sisters, May (Dan) Lukey of Yorkton, SK and Stella Lapitsky of Benito, MB; sister-in-law Isabel Ritchie of Kamsack, SK; brother-in-law Arnold Stepberger of Buchanan, SK; and many nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by her parents, William and Emilia Maximow; and her brother John Maximow. Anne was born the youngest of four children on August 6, 1928 on a farm near Arran, SK, where she was raised. She met Alfred Stepberger from the nearby Pelly, SK area, whom she married on October 21, 1950. They resided in Winnipeg but have spent the last 18 summers "out at the farm" in the Pelly, SK area where Anne indulged her passion for gardening. Often people in the surrounding areas would speak in admiration of their beautiful farmyard by the lake. Anne spent her entire married life as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, providing unfailing love, support and guidance that will be forever cherished. We will never forget the loving, generous, hard-working and caring person that she was. When someone has given so much of herself through the years, for all the times that she took the time for us, for all the sacrifices she made and for all the wonderful memories shes given our family, its hard to find the words to express our thankfulness. You will be forever loved. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away. You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend. But still you kept on fighting, Until the very end. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, And whispered, "Come with Me". You didnt deserve what you went through, So He took you home to rest, Gods garden must be beautiful, For He only takes the best. Prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 1 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357Des Meurons St. Funeral mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2 at the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 252 Dubuc St., with Fr. Lucien Roy presiding. Interment to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A luncheon will be served at Desjardins Funeral Chapel following the interment.
