GERTRUDE FLORENCE HUGHES
Date of Passing: Jun 25, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUDE FLORENCE HUGHES It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our mother and friend on June 25, 2002. Her beloved husband Allan predeceased Gertrude in 1994. Her four daughters, Allana and Herb and their sons, Robb and Michael, Tannis and Dave and their sons, Kellen, Nolan, Brett, Lorri and Harrald and their son Alexander and Tracy and Terry and their son Stephen survive her as well as her brother Joe and family. Granny played an important role in the lives of her seven grandsons and always had the candy dish full. Gertrude was born and raised on Flora Avenue in Winnipeg with her parents, William and Margaret Cook and brothers, Ernie, Bill, and Joe. Gert met Allan at the end of the Second World War and married in 1947 and together they raised their family on Valour Road. For the past 43 years Mom had spent many happy summers at the cabin in Lester Beach where they became permanent residents for the past 20 years. A private family interment was held at Chapel Lawn. In her gazebo where many great family events have been held, her daughters will host a Celebration of Life for Mom. Flowers are gratefully declined but you may make a donation to her favourite charities, The Salvation Army, 500 - 55 Donald St., Winnipeg, R3C 1L8 or Neutropenia Support Association, 905 Corydon Ave., Winnipeg, R3M 0W8. We would like to thank the people who have helped Mom for the past year. "Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep, I am a thousand winds that blow, I am a diamond glint on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle springtime rain." Rest in peace Mom Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
