Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGIA MAE COOPER- CONFREY It is with deep sorrow but also with great joy that the family of Georgia Mae Cooper-Confrey announces that on June 21, 2002, Georgia passed from the confines of this world into the glorious presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Georgia will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her beloved husband Fred "Bud" Confrey and children, Gary (Donna), Brandon, MB, Myrna (Peter) Heissler, Calgary, AB, Carol (Don) Warkentin, Medicine Hat, AB, Ron (Debbie) Cooper, Winnipeg, MB; her grandsons, Brent, Todd, Kipling, Shaun, Scott and Spencer Cooper; her granddaughters, Lori Jane Clark, Kari-Lynn Barr, Kristl Mauren Costain, Krystl Joy and Cara Dawn Cooper; and her 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Georgia is also remembered by her step-children, Greg (Ruth) Confrey, Winnipeg, MB, Corinne (Tarl) Corbett, Denman Island, BC, Patricia Confrey (widow of stepson David), Saskatoon, SK; and Freds grandchildren, Kama, Beth, Jeff and Cory. Georgia was predeceased by her husband Wilfred Emerson "Bill" Cooper in 1955 and their dear son Patrick in 1971. Georgia Mae Walper was born on March 6, 1912 in Guildford, MO. Georgias family moved to British Columbia when Georgia was a child and finally settled in the Biggar, SK area in 1921. In 1929, Georgia met W. E. Cooper, a young school teacher from Margo, SK who was teaching in the Biggar area. In 1933, after a four year courtship, Georgia married her handsome school teacher and, during the following years, lived in various towns in Saskatchewan where together they raised their family and Emerson taught school. In the fall of 1939, Georgia accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Saviour. From that time until the present, her unwavering faith has been her strength as Georgia embraced Gods promises and rejoiced in the knowledge that she would spend eternity with her Lord and Saviour. Georgia was a gifted writer and her deep and abiding faith is exemplified in the following poem "Jesus Guides My Ship" which was written by Georgia late one night when Georgia awoke to pray. Several years ago, Georgias poem was made into a bookmark which has blessed many people throughout the world. It was always the desire of Georgias heart that God would be glorified in her passing as He was in her life. For this reason, we share her poem: JESUS GUIDES MY SHIP My ship floundered on lifes shore And I said, Lord, I can take no more Pounding of the heavy gales. Please, let me fold my sails And anchor in some quiet Harbour of life. Lord, I can no longer face the strife Of all the goals that I have set Knowing in me they cannot be met. Lord, let me rest in some quiet place Where I can be still And seek your face And pray that You will Bless me every day. And He said, Let Me guide your ship; Your life isnt oer To be cast upon some lonely shore. In Me, your life has just begun And at every rising of the sun Ill set the course for you that day. It may be in a quiet bay Where you can feel the tranquility Of a calm and peaceful sea Or, I may guide you away from shore Where the water is deep And the waves will roll. But, if you can trust Me With your soul I will guide your ship. Dear Mom: You have given up a life on this earth that you could not keep to gain a life in eternity that you cannot lose. You are much loved and will be tremendously missed by your family and friends. We will miss your laughter, sense of humour, encouragement, inspiration and your daily covering in prayer for all of us. We are comforted in knowing that we sorrow not as others of this world sorrow. Our hope is not in the temporary things this world has to offer but in the promise of eternal life which can only be found in Jesus, our Saviour. You have fought the good fight, you have kept the faith and we look forward with anticipation to that wonderful day when we will see you again! A celebration of Georgias life was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Thursday, June 27 at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Len Smith of Bethel Christian Assembly officiating. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Georgia may be made to a charity of choice. Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com. Arrangements were in care of Brockie Donovan, Brandon, 727-0694.
