Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH ALICE DAY Edith passed away peacefully on June 17, 2002 at the Middlechurch Personal Care Home (of Winnipeg) in her 85th year. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur Henry Day; daughter Saundra Simms; brothers, Harry (the late Grace), Fred (Edna) and David (Carol) and sister Edna Davidson. Edith is survived by daughters, Sharon Wakeman (Robert) and Marcia Day; sisters, Audrey Masters (the late George) and Irene Staub (Ray) brother Robert Jones (Helen) seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also remembered by other family members and friends. Her volunteer work has been much appreciated by UNICEF, which presented her with an award for 50 years of faithful service. She was also a founding member of the Manitoba Opera Guild Association, a lifelong supporter of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and a 10-year volunteer to the St. Boniface General Hospital research department. Also, Edith served as a volunteer at Middlechurch Home for more than 20 years where she assisted residents and staff in any way she was able. Ironically, these same staff members, who came to know and love Edith as a volunteer, welcomed her back warmly as a resident. The family would like to thank the Middlechurch Home, its staff members and volunteers for their care and kindness. We thank them greatly for making Ediths last years most pleasant and loving. She was a member of long-standing at St. Georges Anglican Church, Transcona and St. Johns Cathedral, Winnipeg. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at St. Johns Cathedral, 135 Anderson Ave., Winnipeg on July 2 at 2:00 p.m. For those who wish, donations to St. Johns Cathedral, or the charity of ones choice would be appreciated.
