ANNA OSTERMANN Peacefully on June 28, 2002 at the Red River Place, Selkirk, our dearly beloved mother and Oma passed away at the age of 96. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ann Schmidt (Henry), Joe (Connie), Clare, Marie Steltenpool (Casey), Ernie (Joan), Teo and son-in-law Glenn Kreutzer; 23 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Josefa Freise (Theodore), sister-in-law Maria Ostermann, brother-in-law Ernst Ostermann (Hannah) and numerous relations in Canada and Germany. Anna was predeceased by her husband Fritz in 1966; a daughter Pauline Kreutzer in 1975; sisters, Elizabeth, Maria, Hilda, Paula, Klara; and brothers, Willie and Helmut. Mother was born a twin to Maria in Illingen, Westphalen in 1906. In 1930 she married Fritz and moved to Little Britain, MB where they and a group of German immigrants farmed and raised their families. Mother had an active and full life as a member of the St. Margarets Church and the Little Britain Community. Many thanks to the wonderful staff of Red River Place for the excellent care they have given her in the past 10 months. Also a Big, Big Thanks to all the Home Care ladies who looked after Mom so diligently for so many years, especially Terry, Bernice, Ruth, Wanda, Bev, Marlene, Bonnie, Dana and Joan. It was great that you treated Mom as a "Special Oma". Prayers will be said on Tuesday, July 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 3 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Margarets Roman Catholic Church, Little Britain, with Msgr. Louis McCloskey officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery. Her pallbearers will be grandsons, Randy Schmidt, Rick Tascona, Mark Schmidt, Joe Ostermann and Barclay and Brad Ostermann. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Margarets Church, 103 Little Britain Rd., Lockport, MB R1A 2P8, towards the purchase of the new Stations of the Cross. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
