Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHYACINTHE GEORGES JOSEPH LAPOINTE 1924 - 2002 After a long and courageous struggle with cancer, Hyacinthe passed away with his loving family by his side at the Victoria Hospital on Sunday, June 30, 2002. Hyacinthe leaves to cherish his everlasting memory his wife of 55 years Hermance (nee Johnson), daughter Louise (Doug) Hardy, grandchildren, Danielle (Dave Anderson) and Garrett; son Edouard (Dorothy), grandchildren, Donald (Monique) and Chantelle (fiance Nick Audette) son Paul (Linda), grandchildren, Krista, Joelle and Jason; daughter Joanne (Wayne) Sebastian, grandchildren, Kimberly (Geoff) Zalitach, Janette Scott, Craig and Kevin (Aimee) daughter Annette (John) West, and grandchildren, Sean (Julie), Bonnie (Kevin) Cote, Derek (Miranda), and Andrew (Kelly) daughter Gisele (Charlie) Dearborn, grandchildren, Sherri and Scott; as well as 12 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters, Helen (Adrien) Ouimet, Adeline Reitmeier, Denise (Jean) Johnson, and Jeannine Johnson. He was predeceased by his father Severe, his mother Rosaide, his stepfather Edward Gauthier, two brothers, Raymond and Henri; five sisters, Blandine Paradis, Marie-Ange Lavallee, Solange Dorge, Rita Johnson, and Mae Berard. Dad was born and raised in La Salle. He spent half his working life on the family farm which was his second love, his first love was when he met his wife Hermance. He also worked at Canada Cement for more than 30 years where he was fondly referred to as Sonny. In 1968 the family moved to St. Vital. This gave him more time to spend with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was always the first one there to lend a helping hand or to sit in on a game of cards. One of his proudest moments was when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were around for him to spoil. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Garrett Hardy, Donald Lapointe, Jason Lapointe, Craig Sebastian, Sean West, and Scott Dearborn. The Lapointe family sincerely thanks the entire staff at Victoria Hospital, especially the 3rd floor for the excellent care and compassion given to Hyacinthe and his family during the last months of his illness. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 4 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Eugene Roman Catholic Church, 1007 St. Marys Rd. with Fr. Marcel Toupin officiating. Viewing one-half hour prior to service. Following the service, burial will be at Glen Lawn, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dads memory to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB, R3T 9Z9.
