Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRIAN EDWARD JOHNSTON April 1, 1941 - July 1, 2002 It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Brian Johnston, aged 61, on Monday, July 1, 2002 at the Grace General Hospital. Brian will be lovingly missed by his family, beloved wife Sandy; sons, Brent and Brad (Noelle) and his daughter Danielle; grandsons, Brendan and Zachary; sister Shelagh Jones of Calgary; nephew Howard Jones of Edmonton; niece Allison Jones; and brother Bruce Mathers of Toronto. Brian will also be missed by many friends and relatives. Brian was born in Winnipeg, the eldest son of Doris and Edward Johnston. Throughout his life he had many different career opportunities beginning with various jobs in general construction. In 1967 he joined the St. James Fire Department and continued as a fireman with the City of Winnipeg Fire Department until his retirement in July of 1996. Brian was a jack-of-all-trades. There wasnt anything he couldnt do. He excelled in carpentry, mason work and anything mechanical that was broken, he could fix. There was an artistic side to Brian and he was very creative. He was a kind, generous and fun-loving man who believed in the importance of family and friends and living life to its fullest. Even through the pain of his illness he always thought of the welfare of his family and others before himself. Brian was predeceased by his mother Doris, July 1988, father Edward, August 1988, and father-in-law Charlie Sangster, July 2001. Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 4 at 1:00 p.m. in the Headingley United Church, 110 Bridge Rd., Headingley, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Cancer Foundation, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3G 9Z9. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements.775-2220.
