Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLYDE DAVID ROSS 1920 - 2002 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clyde David Ross on Saturday, June 29, 2002 at Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 82. With Eva, his loving wife of 56 years at his side, Clyde slipped peacefully from this world into the glorious presence of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Clyde was born in Vancouver, BC, on January 17, 1920, the son of David and Doris Ross. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Richard. Clyde will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Eva; daughter Corinne Dawley; son-in-law Kevin Dawley; grand-daughter Kelsey; grandson Spencer all of Winnipeg; and sister-in-law Ginny Robinson and nephews Scott and Brent Robinson of Ladner, BC. Although a gentle, quiet man, Clyde served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War as a Wireless Air Gunner. In this capacity he was instrumental in destroying an enemy submarine which had entered Canadian waters and was preying on our vessels. He was commissioned and decorated for his heroism but, self-effacing as he was, he staunchly refused to talk about it. In his post-war years, Clyde worked as a Commercial Artist for Brigdens of Winnipeg for 13 years. Then followed a short stint in smoggy Los Angeles, CA, after which he and his family returned to Winnipeg where he again worked for Brigdens. Later he worked for McLeods where he set up their in-house photography and art studio. Clyde also worked for the Metro chain of newspapers for a time, and later became Art Director of the advertising department of The Winnipeg Tribune until its closure in 1980. From then on until he turned 80, he operated his own free-lance art studio. Clyde and Eva were founding members of Manitoba Circle Square Ranch in 1988 and their handiwork in the form of hand-carved signs is in evidence throughout this facility. Clyde was a sweet, humble, totally selfless gentleman; a loving, faithful husband, a proud, devoted father, and a doting grandfather. He had a close, on-going relationship with grandchildren Kelsey and Spencer. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in the Buntain Chapel at Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave St. on Friday, July 5 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Clydes favourite charities, Manitoba Circle Square Ranch, Box 99, Austin, MB, R0H 0C0, or Bridges For Peace, Box 21001, RPO Charleswood, Winnipeg, R3R 3R2. The family would like to thank Dr. Bob Goodman and nurses on Unit 3 Victoria General Hospital, nursing staff on 4E Riverview Health Centre, and doctors and nurses in MICU and 5A of Health Sciences Centre for their on-going and excellent care of Clyde during the past six months of his hospitalization. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away. You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. You faced each day with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting Until the very end. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you And whispered, "Come with Me." You didnt deserve what you went through So He took you home to rest, In Gods very beautiful garden Where He only takes the best. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street, 949-4860
