EDWARD HIEBERT 1926 - 2002 After a courageous struggle with cancer, Edward passed away July 3, 2002. He went to be with his Lord and Saviour. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Betty; two sons, Garry (Donna), Randy (Lynn) grandsons, David, Jordan and Carl; brothers, Alfred (Hilda), Richard (Mary) sisters, Susan, Edna (Henry), Elsie (Charles). He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Peter and Katharina Hiebert; one brother and three sisters. Edward was born and raised in the village of Schoenviese in southern Manitoba on December 31, 1926. In his teen years his family moved to Purvis, MB, where Edward worked on the family farm. In later years he took up residence in Winnipeg where he worked at various jobs. In 1966, he joined the Paul Revere Life Insurance Company. These proved to be very successful and most enjoyable years. In fact, the word retirement did not exist in Eds vocabulary until at age 75 his health no longer permitted these daily activities, only then did he lay down pen and paper. However, he enjoyed other hobbies - having coffee with his buddies at Salisbury House, a good game of golf, and fishing with his friends. Ed enjoyed his family; they came first. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, and he was the kindest, most loving "Opa" for his three grandsons. He always reminded us "My name shall carry on". They truly were his pride and joy. There are no words to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Wilson and staff of Seven Oaks Hospital, 5th Floor, Unit 6 for their care and compassion. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 8 at 11:00 a.m. at North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1130 Roch St., with Rev. Albert Durksen officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to The Childrens Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2. GONE ARE THOSE DAYS SO HEAVEN SENT IF I COULD LIVE THEM OER ID BE CONTENT EACH NIGHT WHEN SHADOWS SLOWLY COVER ME I LIVE THOSE BY GONE DAYS - IN MEMORY Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
