CHRISTINA HUDSON (GUMMY) 1918 - 2002 Peacefully, on Tuesday, July 2, 2002, Christina Hudson, aged 84 years, passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital, surrounded by her family. Chris was predeceased by her husband Tom in 1942; her parents; brother Basil; sisters, Nellie, Ann, Mary, and Margaret. She leaves to mourn, daughter Carol (John) Kasprick; granddaughters, Kelly (Glen) Henkewich, Darcy (Hoo Yin) Wong; grandson Jason Kasprick; her great-grandchildren, whom she adored and was very proud of, Jeremy (enjoyed his shopping and lunching out and long talks on the phone with Gummy), Carrie (only great-granddaughter who had a standing order for chocolate chip cookies every time she came to visit), Cory (enjoyed his sleep-overs with lots of coffee and reading stories together), Brenham (she was so proud of him speaking three languages at only seven years old and talking to him on the phone) and Austin (who inherited her love of sweets and junk food from Gummy) brother David Safronuik; sisters, Kay (Mike) Mentanko, and Jean (Dick) Parsons; brother-in-law Harold Hudson in Edmonton; several nieces, nephews; and many dear and longtime friends. Chris was born on a farm near Mountain Road, MB. She was third in a family of nine children. Upon leaving home she moved to Neepawa and married Tom Hudson. After he passed away, she began working at the Bus Depot. Wanting a better life for her daughter she moved to Winnipeg and began working at the United Cigar Store on Portage and Donald. Then she started working at Eatons, mainly in the clocks and shaver bar. She enjoyed travelling, especially cruises and bus tours all over Europe even to the Ukraine, where her parents came from. After discovering Hawaii she travelled there many times. She retired from Eatons and successfully fought throat cancer and began to enjoy her retirement. She belonged to the Eatons Retirement Club, where she enjoyed gambling trips, bowling and the coffee parties. Gummy loved to keep the family well supplied with perogies, chocolate chip cookies, Christmas studenetz and onion pickles. Mom was a very proud and independent lady. She adored all of her family and will be missed, loved, and never forgotten. The family would like to thank the Seven Oaks I.C.U., especially Bruce, Colleen and Lisa, who helped us so much over the last 11 days and treated Mom with much kindness and dignity. Prayers will be held on Friday, July 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6 at 10:00 a.m., also at the chapel, with a private interment to follow. Pallbearers will be great-grandson Jeremy Henkewich; grandson Jason Kasprick; grandsons-in-law, Glen Henkewich and Hoo Yin Wong; brother David Safroniuk; and brother-in-law Mike Mentanko. Although Mom really loved flowers, we know she would have preferred donations to go to Variety, The Childrens Charity, 611 Wellington Cr., Winnipeg, MB R3M 0A7. What gift have we to give someone whos given us so much? Someone whos been a source of strength yet has a gentle touch, someone whose loving influence could have no counterpart... What gift have we to give her? All the love thats in our hearts. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
