FRANK RYBAK On Wednesday, July 3, 2002, we said goodbye to our father, Frank Rybak, aged 85 years. Frank passed away peacefully and never gave up his will to live and triumph to the end. He left us, in death as in life, with great courage and dignity. His final battle to survive, gave to us the strength and gift of his spirit. Left to treasure and respect his memory are his daughters, Genevie (Doug) Henderson of Winnipeg, MB and Linda (Peter) Holodryga of Brandon, MB; grandchildren, Nancy and Stanley Rybak, Chad Holodryga, Brett and Brie Henderson; brothers, John, Peter; and sister Helen. He was predeceased by his wife, Sophie; his sons, Ed and Orville; and his infant daughter Vivian. Frank was born in Winnipeg, MB on March 23, 1917. As early as his youth, he displayed a strong work ethic, resiliency and intelligent resourcefulness. He married his beloved wife Sophie in 1939 and they had five children, Ed, Orville, Vivian, Gen and Linda. In 1942 he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army and served overseas in Britain and Europe during the Second World War until his honourable discharge in 1946. Frank was exceptionally proud to serve his country, Canada. After the war, he worked for the CNR until he retired at 55 years of age. He had a deep love of nature and the outdoors, fishing and golfing. Frank enjoyed new adventures and shared his love of travel with Sophie and his children. He budgeted carefully and planned family car trips to BC and USA. He believed that "travel is education". In later years, Frank and Sophie spent winters in Texas and Arizona. These happy memories sustained them during lifes challenges. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Monday, July 8 at 2:00 p.m., in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. Donations to the Royal Canadian Legion No. 90, 1125 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 2A3, to assist other members. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street 949-4860
