Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIRGINIE EDITH (IDA) TOWNS (nee COWIE) 1904 - 2002 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear and precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt at the Victoria General Hospital on Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at the age of 98 years. She was born on March 26, 1904, in Clarkleigh, MB. Mother was predeceased by her husband Harry in 1983, her mother Virginia and father Louis, six brothers and four sisters. She will be sadly missed by son Roy Towns; daughters, Ruth Church and Sydney of Winnipeg, Jean Hammell and John Oregon, Carral Bozyk and Ted of Winnipeg, stepdaughter Joyce Pettypiece and Frank of Abbottsford, BC; her one and only sister left, Margaret Moffat; and special daughter-in-law Georgina Towns; grandchildren, Mary Jean Jones (Owen), Linda Owen (Randy), Kathy Weir (Bruce), Sydney Church Jr. (Karen), Donna Bourcier (Luke), William Church (Sharon), Candace Watt (Joey), Carol Sue Raab (Tom), John Hammell Jr., Pat Hammell (Angie), Harvey Hammell, Scott Hammell (Beth), Mike Hammell (Barbie), Jim Towns (Darcy), Bobby Towns, Ted Bozyk Jr., Tom Bozyk, Patricia Belvet, Cathy Debbie, children of Joyce and Frank Pettypiece; 43 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mother belonged to No. 97 Fort Rouge Legion for many years. She was an avid snooker player and loved playing Bingo with her friends. She did volunteer work at the Kiwanis Centre for the (OLD FOLKS) which she referred to for some years and received a plaque of recognition. Mother was a wonderful seamstress and well known for her sewing ability. A game of cards with her family could never be passed up. Viewing will take place one hour prior to service. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9 at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, with Fr. Patrick Morand officiating. Interment will follow at Garry Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Sydney Jr. and William Church, Ted Jr. and Tom Bozyk, Bobby Towns; and great-grandson Ryan Jones. Special thanks to Dr. Clement Yeung for all the care he had given Mother through the years. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on the 3rd floor of the Victoria General Hospital. You always picked us up When we fell down. You will always be the most important lady in our lives. Your love and guidance will always be with us. We wish you could have been with us longer, but we are so grateful for the time we had. All of us, your friends and family, will truly miss you.
